Class of 2020 Graduation: Every Which Way to the Next Step

It’s high school graduation season. Caps and gowns. Tassels symbolizing accomplishment.

Seniors are graduating on their school’s football field socially distanced six feet apart. Others are receiving their diplomas via house calls, just not the medical kind. Principals are literally driving hundreds of miles to each senior’s home to hand deliver the diploma. Still others are taking part in “Senior Rolls” in which each senior gets in their decked-out car to parade by their school and through their community.

This year the ceremonies look different but the cause for celebration remains the same. Completing one big milestone and embarking on life’s next step.

next steps

The next steps can be as varied as the student. Some will look for work in their local community. Some will enter into the military. Others will begin an apprenticeship program in the trades. And others will go to a 2-year college or a 4-year university. Many who begin on one path will transfer onto another.

Across all of these paths, there is one constant: how you use your time will be a big part of your success. For many recent high school graduates, managing time strategically can be the biggest challenge.

Do you get out of bed in the morning and get to work or class on time? OR do you hit snooze for the tenth time?

Do you budget time to complete the homework assignment?

Where’s the time for going on a bike ride with a friend or to the movies?

Finding balance between academics and social life, handling life’s inevitable stressors and earning enough money to pay the bills --- whew, that’s a lot to handle! It’s actually the reason why we created Success Prints Crash Course®. We thought if students could get the feel of college life before arriving on campus, they would be ready for when it was GAME ON!

Games allow players to test a strategy and see what happens. When the only consequence is to play another round or call do-over, we can learn from our failure (or success) and either try something different or refine what seems to be working.

That’s why games are brilliant teaching tools. You play, lose, learn, play, win!

Success Prints Crash Course® challenges players to maximize grades and social connections while managing stress and earning enough cash for tuition and other expenses. Trying out different time management strategies and learning about campus resources before the consequences are real allows students to play, fail, learn, play, succeed! Just what they need to get ready for college.
